George R. Koerner, 79, passed away November 18, 2011. Mr. Koerner was born in Staten Island and lived most of his life there before moving to Manchester, NJ for the past 10 years. He was a medic for the Navy during the Korean Conflict. George was very active in the VFW Post # 9587 in Staten Island for many years. He was an avid gardener who was very attentive to his plants. He was a loving brother, uncle and great uncle and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Koerner is survived by his sister, Joyce Adinolfi, two nieces, Patricia Chelsen and Christie Adinolfi, two great nieces, Jessica Coraci and Kate Kaltenmeier, and two great nephews, Philip Coraci and Christopher Chelsen. Friends may call Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 4PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
