

Born and raised in Jersey City, she resided there until moving to Lakewood.
Prior to retiring, she was a Travel Agent for many years.
Surviving is her loving husband of 22 years, John Heinis; a sister Maria Niedzwiecki and her husband Thomas; a niece Erin Marie Niedzwiecki; 3 step-daughters: Susan Vicari, Christine McGrath & Jeanie Fortunato; and 4 grandchildren: Joey Vicari, Matthew Vicari, Julia Fortunato & Angelo Fortunato
Irene was very active in the Women’s Auxillary of the American Legion in Toms River and a member of the Elks in Brick. She was also very active in the Ukrainian Community Center in Jersey City. She also served as a committee woman and ran for council. In addition, Irene was an avid Bingo player, ran many Bingo trips, and loved her dogs, Precious and Ruby.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:15AM at D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, followed by a 9:00AM Mass of Christian burial at St. Dominic’s Church in Brick. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
