

Jack Fernandez, 85, passed away August 18, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center. Mr. Fernandez was raised in the Bronx, attending Samuel Gompers High School and City College of New York for Art before moving to Hillsdale, NJ where he raised his family and finally settling in Lakewood, NJ for the past 18 years. He served as Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and earned the Purple Heart. Jack worked as a fashion designer in the Garment District in New York City for many years. Jack was involved in many clubs and activities in the Fairway Community. He was loved by everyone he met and was known as the “Jack of All Trades” because of his amazing ability to fix anything. Jack loved many things in life and was always optimistic, but his true love in life was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Fernandez is predeceased by his brother Manny Fernandez Sr. and his wife Elsa. Jack is survived by his loving wife Abby. Abby and Jack would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2015. He is also survived by his daughters Joanne Ludwig and her husband Hal and Vivian Fernandez. Grandchildren Jacqueline and her husband Jared, Ryan, Derek and his fiancée Jessica, Austin and Amber all will greatly miss their Grandpa Jack. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 9:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
