

Joanne was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 21, 1940 as the daughter of Vincent Esposito and Mary Esposito (nee Tresi).
Wife of the late Ernest Thomas Vaughn, Jr., she is survived by their children, Daniel V. Vaughn and wife Janet, Christopher J. Vaughn and wife Savi, Jeremy S. Vaughn and wife Cheryl, and Joel G. Vaughn and wife Erin; two siblings, Vincent Esposito and Rachelle Miller (nee Esposito); and 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Priscella, Alyssa, Jason, Jonathan, Jennifer, Timothy, Benjamin, Alexander, Zachary, Andrew, Jack, J’Mya, and Coryn.
Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was extraordinarily generous with her time and spirit. Those around her always knew she loved them dearly. She met her spouse, Ernie, the love of her life, at an insurance company at which they both worked in Manhattan in 1958. They were married in 1959 until his passing in 2011. Over the course of the first ten years of their marriage their four sons were born, and the family moved to Atlanta, Tampa, Long Island, Overland Park, Kansas, and Freehold, New Jersey. Joanne was an extremely talented artist who painted many lovely pictures in a variety of styles. Joanne was a wonderful cook who made many a fantastic Italian meal for her family. She was also known for her pecan pie, her fudge and cookies at Christmas, and her deviled eggs, among many other specialties. Joanne loved to dance and was an avid reader. Later in life Joanne made and sold jewelry, and participated in craft shows with her close friend Rosemary. Joanne greatly enjoyed playing cards and occasionally taking day trips with friends in her community.
Relatives and friends will be received from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A short service will begin at 2:45 PM.
