Julie E. Mercer

Julie Ellen Mercer, age 71, of Lakewood, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ . Julie was born September 6, 1949 in Neptune, NJ as the daughter of James and Judy Groff. Julie was a lifelong area resident.

Julie retired from the Lakewood Board of Education, having served as as a teacher and Librarian.

Julie is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Paul J. Mercer; their children, Kelin Mercer, Trevor Mercer and his wife Tiffany, and Patrick Mercer and his wife Lauren; two siblings, Joanne Kowit and her husband Joel, and Janie Groff; and five granchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Ocean County Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.
