

Louis is predeceased by his first wife of three years; Marian nee DeRespiris and his second wife of 42 years Sheila E. Gaspari nee McCarthy.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Gregory and Regina of Robbinsville, NJ; Susan and Edward Andzeski of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; Paul and Maria Gaspari of Holland, PA, one brother; George R. and his wife, Dolores of Warwick, NY, and his beloved niece and nephews, Margaret, Geoffrey and Jonathan. Additionally, he is survived by his six grandchildren; Kevin, Amanda, Stephanie, Christine, Michael, Emma, and 3 step grandchildren; Travis, Sarah and Michael. His partner and love of 13 years; Barbara Valis and her family, and other extended relatives, and many many dear friends.
Louis graduated from St. John's University in 1955. After graduating, he took a teaching position in the Hamptons on Long Island until he was drafted and served in the Us Army in the 8th division in Bad Kreuznach, Germany.
Louis had a 25 year career as a Social Services Case Worker for the New York Dept. of Social Services. In addition, he was employed for 15 years as the Township of Lakewood Purchasing Agent and Risk Coordinator.
Louis was an avid reader with a love for sports. He refereed thousands of middle school and high school baseball and basketball games over 30 years. Louis was the president of the Shore Board 194 Umpires Association and was the USSSA Softball Association President and Umpire in Chief for over 20 years. He was also inducted in 1995 to the USSSA Hall of Fame. He was a huge sports fan that began with his love for the Brooklyn Dodgers which he never forgave for leaving Brooklyn. He was an avid New York Jets, Yankees, Knicks and NY hockey fan. Louis loved playing competitive sports throughout his life, especially golf and tennis in his later years. He had a deep love of Opera, Broadway plays, and good music in general.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and 7:00pm -9:00pm at D'Elia Funeral Home located at 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
