Peter Gudzak, age 83, of Brick, New Jersey passed away on Monday July 23, 2018 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. Peter was born and raised in Newark, NJ moving to Irvington with his wife Dolores, later to East Brunswick before finally settling in Brick, NJ. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and earned the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a sales manager for Risk International and CF Consolidated for many years and more recently for the Toms River Board of Education. Peter loved being involved with his children and grandchildren's sports, especially baseball, where he served as a coach and member of the Manager's Association in East Brunswick. He was also an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Mr. Gudzak loved to take trips to Atlantic City with his wife, Dolores. Peter was also a member of the organization that orchestrated the Guiness World Record Setting baseball game that lasted 200 innings in 1976. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Gudzak is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dolores Gudzak; 4 sons & daughters-in-law, Peter & Robyn Gudzak, Dominick & Chantal Gudzak, Mark & Liza Gudzak and David & Joanne Gudzak; eleven grandchildren, Peter and his wife Meredith, Ashley, Anthony, Nicholas, Matthew, Joseph, Austin, Miranda, Timothy, Zackery and Brianna; a great-grandchild Mia; nephew, John Gudzak and his wife Anna; cousin, Patricia Freda and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
His funeral mass will be celebrated 10a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in St. Dominic's Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ 08724. Cremation will be held privately.
Burial will be in the Brigadier General WC Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Peter's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
