

Peter F. Jessup Jr. of Lakewood, NJ passed away peacefully on July 25th with his family by his side. He was born on June 11, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to Peter & Ruth Jessup. Peter is survived by Marilyn Jessup, nee Bohn, his beloved wife for 61 years. He was a devoted father to both of his sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Taryn and Michael and Melissa. He was also known as “Grandpa Duke” by the three granddaughters he adored, Ava, Taylor, and Olivia. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Cain and Peggy Rybarczyk as well as 8 nieces and nephews to whom he was affectionately known as “Unk”. Peter was predeceased by brothers-in-law Richard Cain and Walter Rybarczyk. He resided in NY for 49 years until relocating to New Jersey for the last 38. He was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and after being honorably discharged went on to work in the communications industry until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement he turned his passion and talent for art into a small picture framing business that supported local community artists. His skilled handiwork was also apparent with his many home projects and in his spare time he also enjoyed hobbies such as poker, bowling, golf, chess and dabbling with the piano. Peter was a devoted family man who also cherished his dinner parties and entertaining around the holidays. With his quick wit, he could always be counted on for perfectly timed sarcasm and humor to facilitate conversations as well welcoming guests with his signature Manhattan. His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 10:00 AM at: All Saints Episcopal Church located at 213 Madison Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701 Followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cemetery;1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood, NJ 08701 Memorial contributions in Peter’s name can be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
