

Born in Jackson Heights, NY, he resided in Elmont, NY and Colonia, NJ for most of his life before settling in Manchester 6 years ago.
Prior to retiring, Peter worked as a Manufacturing Supervisor at Fedders Corporation in Edison. Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War II from 1942-1945. He was also a member of the VFW Post 7904 in Colonia.
Peter played semi-professional baseball and was a golden glove boxer. He loved the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers, but his greatest love was flying general aviation aircraft with his son, Peter.
He was predeceased by his brothers, George & Jack Murphy; and 2 sisters: Joan Saporiti and Rita Nystrom.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Ruth; a son, Peter and his wife Lisa; a daughter, Patricia Ann Ziegelbauer and her husband Ken; 2 sisters: Eileen Trujillo and Teresa Michalek; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30AM at the Brigadier General William C. Doylve Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Interment to immediately follow.
