

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he settled in Lakewood, NJ 16 years ago.
Roy was a decorated retired Sergeant First Class in the US Army, having served his country for 22 years. He served during the Korean & Vietnam Wars and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, and 3 overseas service ribbons. After retiring from the Army, he was a stationary fireman for the City of New York. Roy was also a member of the VFW Fort Hamilton Memorial Post #5558 in Brooklyn, the American Legion Post #1222 in NYC, and a member of the Purple Heart Association.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Hisae; 2 sons: Ronald and his wife Diana of Chippewa, OH, and Michael and his wife Donna of Long Island, NY; a daughter, Michelle Spanower of Long Island, NY; 2 grandchildren: David & Cheryl; 3 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Colton & Grayson; a sister, Bella Gotlin of Boca Raton, FL; and nephews: Ronald Gotlin and his wife Susan, Gary Gotlin, and Robert Gotlin and his wife Marcia.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5PM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
