

On January 6 2015, Mrs. Asie Lee McDaniel, fondly known as "Sis" departed this life to be with the Lord. She was born to John and Jennie Fleming Jolly on June 12, 1925 in Warden, Louisiana. There she met Johnnie McDaniel Sr. andwas married on August 26, 1944. From this union, eleven children were born. Sis. McDaniel was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also worked for Texas City Independent School District for 28 years. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks. She also loved to watch food and cooking channels. Asie Lee had an unwavering faith with the church. In her early years she was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. After moving to Texas City in 1961, she was a member of Greater Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church working actively in the church for 26 years. Upon her return to Warden, Louisiana in 1987, she reunited with Palestine Baptist Church where she's remained faithful for 28 years. Asie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 71 years, Johnnie McDaniel; her children, Mary Lee, Ernestine Brevard, Johnnie McDaniel Jr. and William McDaniel; a grandson, Keith McDaniel; her brothers, George Jolly and Lois Jolly; and sister, Ester Reed. She leaves to cherish her legacy: five sons, Leroy McDaniel, Lawrence (Doris), Lester (Vera), Lonnie (Jackie) and Ray; two daughters, Lorene Jamison (Billy) and Vernell Nealy (Jerry); adopted son, Leroy Jr. (Fushia); brothers, Johnny Jolly and Milton Alexander; sister, Evelyn Williams; she is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-one-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a close family friend, Will Sasnette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
