

Carl Edward Davis was born on August 28, 1949 in Harrison, Mississippi to Mary Grayson and Robert Davis. His family moved to Texas City with him at an early age. He graduated from Texas City High School in 1967 and attended Texas Southern University. He worked at BP/Amoco Chemicals where he retired after more than 30 years. He also worked as Area Director or Texas Association of Sports officials Gulf Coast Chapter. Carl was ordained a Deacon under the pastoral leadership of the late Pastor Zephaniah Phillips at Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City. In later years, he united with St. John Missionary Church where he served as a Deacon until God called him home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bailey; sister, Robin Bailey Loud; and grandson, Justin Davis. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 45 years, Brenda, his children, Tiffany Chaney, Ahmaal Davis (Carol) and Keric Davis; father, Rev. Robert Davis (Hazel); sisters: Sandra Burton, Gale Johnson, (Robert), Tracy Ware and Gwen Davis; Brother: Greg Davis (Evelyn); mother-in-law, Mrs. Willie M. Saxton; brother-in-law, Rev. Jerry B. Lee Jr. (Evelyn); sister-n-law, Delyn Calhoun (Virgil); uncle: Rev. Charles Grayson (Annie); aunts: Connie Vincent (Frank), Joyce Grayson, Janice Franklin-Williams; grandsons, Taylor Chaney, ZiaYah Davis, Adrion Newton (Nnenna), Corey Sonnier II, Derius Wolf; great grandson, Andiron Newton, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. His infectious smile and distinctive laugh and caring personality will be greatly missed.
