

On March 10, 1924 in Blessing, Texas, twins were born to John and Isabell Miller whom they named James Bryant and John Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Isabell; sisters, Cecil Laverne, Jess Lee; brothers, Samuel Charles, Ezell, twin, John Davis and Herman Lee.Deacon Miller confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age, becoming a member of Free Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Blessing, Texas. After moving to Texas City, he united with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S. A. Anderson.His church affiliations included being ordained as a Deacon on September 1, 1955, President of the Brothers in Unity, Chairman of the Trustee Board, member of the Usher Board for over 20 years; and was a member of the Mainland Interdenominational Male Chorus of Galveston County.He received his formal education in Blessing, Texas. On September 22, 1943, "J.B." enlisted in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge and was nicknamed, "Texas Kid", He retired from UTMB after 30 years of service.On March 26, 1946 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Virgie Lee Floyd, who preceded him in death. He reared two lovely daughters, Stella Marline Miller-Hill, who preceded him in death and Lasonia Denise Miller; and one special nephew/son, Ronald Kirk Revis.He leaves to cherish his memories of his life: a devoted granddaughters, Virgie Hill of Texas City; a grandson, Edwin Hill of Deer Park; a daughter, Lasonia Miller of Texas City; two sisters, Peardee Wright and Ann Gills of Houston; two brothers, Leon Miller of Portland, Oregon and Roy Miller (Faye) of Blessing; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Hill and Kendall Grant Hill; a great-grandson who shares his middle name, Michael Bryant Hill (Shelbi); a great-nephew that also shares his initials and middle name, Jonathan Bryant Miller; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
