

Donald Ray Rogers was born July 20, 1955 in Galveston, Texas to the late Willie Rogers, Sr. and Odessa McAdams Rogers. Don accepted Christ at an early age. Don grew up in Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in West Texas City under the leadership of Rev. Dr. D. N. Benford, Sr. He attended public school in La Marque, Texas and was a 1974 graduate of La Marque High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army and served his tour of duty until he was honorably discharged in 1979. Don was a person who enjoyed life and enjoyed his family and friends. He also loved spending time at the Shell Station with his buddies doing things he loved to do. Anyone who knew him, loved him. No matter when you saw him, he was just "Don." Don departed this life October 12, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Rogers, Sr.; mother, Odessa Rogers; sister Velma Saldana; and brother, Raymond Rogers. Don is survived by his five brothers, Jimmie Saldana (Beverly), Eddie Saldana, Sharm Saldana (Sylvia), Eugene Rogers (Patsy) and Willie Rogers, Jr.; two sisters, Patricia Saldana and LaVerne Wimberly; He will also be sadly missed by Mrs. Mary Lois Joseph Tolliver, a another mother to him; and Rachel Wimberly, his devoted care giver and niece; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
