Loraine "Ms. Lo" McChristian Lovings

On May 6, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Texas, a beautiful baby girl was born to the union of Clabe McChristian Sr. and Claudia Rodgers McChristian. They named their blessing from God, Loraine. She was educated in the public schools of Lufkin, Texas and attended Dunbar High School. She was a well know Basketball player during her high school years. Later the family moved to Galveston and she united with Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was employed with J. P. Enterprises and later began her career with the Galveston County Sheriff's Department in 1979 and served diligently until her retirement in 1996. In 1993, Loraine married the love of her life Raymond Lovings of Texas City. They shared years of precious and treasured memories together. She later united with Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church in Hitchcock under the pastoral leadership of Pastor William L. Randall, Jr. She loved spending time with her family and watching basketball. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and coworkers. On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, Loraine went to be with the Lord at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clabe and Claudia McChristian; sister, Alberta Stanford; and brothers, C. B. McChristian, J. D. McChristian and Clabe McChristian Jr. Left to celebrate her life are her devoted husband of 22 years, Raymond Lovings; her children, Joe McChristian (Vickie), Ray Freeman McChristian and Donald Ray McChristian (Denise); extended family children, Melary Jones and Cal Jones; stepchildren, Effie Smith, Betty Sue Gaines (Steve) and Gaston Scranton; a beloved sister, Mary L. Jones; five grandchildren, Donyea L. McChristian, Cecille S. Maxey, Raymond D. McChristian, Ray F. McChristian Jr. and Natasha McChristian; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Jennie McChristian, Margaret Beals, James Lovings, and Ollie Lovings (Gloria); her beloved pet, Bella Jean Lovings; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members, co-workers who loved her dearly and many friends.
