

Naomi Willina Mayes Davison, 89, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Naomi was born May 17, 1927 in Double Bayou, Texas to the late Earl Palmer Mayes and Elmira Jean Thomas Mayes. She graduated from Powell Point High School, in Kendleton, Texas and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1946. On June 5, 1948 she married Oscar Clarence Davison Jr. To their marriage four children were born. For a number of years she was a member of Galilee United Methodist Church in Texas City, Texas. There she served as Communion Stewart, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a member of Church Women United, and Director of Communications of Cornerstone Resource Development Council, of Galveston County. She worked for years as a Ward Clerk on 2 South at Mainland Hospital in Texas City. She became a member of Praise Chapel church in Webster, Texas, where she served as a faithful member. She loved to sing and attended choir rehearsals with the choir. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar. C. Davison Jr.; daughter, Jacqueline Faye Davison; her parents; brothers, Hillary R. Mayes, Hiram E. Mayes, Earl Homer ( “Joe”) Mayes, Oscar Burton Mayes, and Ishmael A. Mayes. Sisters, Hazel I. Mayes Jason, and Oveta Venella Mayes Ellis. She leaves to cherish her daughters, Beverly Davison Baker and Cynthia Davison Daniel, son Anthony “Tony” Davison, three grandchildren, Christopher Earl Baker (Shawna), Monique Lenore Seleen (Beau), and Shawntai Yvonee Lyons; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, relatives, and friends.
