Ruby D Hicks

Ruby D. Jones Hicks was born to L.C. Jones, Sr. and Juanita Luster Jones on May 22, 1947 in Massey Lake, Texas. She later moved with her parents to Texas City, Texas where she attended Booker T. Washington elementary & junior high and Lincoln high school. She departed this life on February 15, 2013. She professed her love for Christ and was a faithful and dedicated member of Rising Star Baptist Church for over 60 years and a devoted democrat. She served as President of Dorcas Circle #2, Vice President of Bible Band, teacher for Nurses Auxiliary and avid Sunday School attendee, Senior Mission #1, Eastern Star Silver Circle #101, South Texas District Association: Mission #1 Auxiliary, Bible Band and Nurses Auxiliary. Ruby met and married Hermann J. Hicks, Sr. and to this union a daughter, Tanisha was born. Ruby attended College of the Mainland where she completed the nursing programs: LVN and RN programs, respectively. She was a dedicated employee of John Sealy Hospital and UTMB TDJC for over 30 years. Her hobbies included: church activities, sewing, helping others and spending time with family. She leaves to cherish her memories: her sons: Darius Hicks (Melissa Hicks), Alfred Hicks, daughter, Tanisha Hicks George (Kevin George); Mother: Novile Jones; Brother: Henry L. Jones; Grandchildren: Darius Hicks, Jr. and Christian Davis; Special Nieces: Angela Vallier and Nickey Wilson, great nieces and nephews; Special Friends: Sheila Harris, Toby & Alice Stubblefield, Dorothy Pinesette, Gladys Douglas, Mary Brown, Shirley Alexander, Pat Cotton, Stella Fredrick, James Powers, Linda Faye Taylor, Mary G. Brown, Mary Toliver and a host of other family members and friends. Preceding her in death are: Juanita Luster Jones (Mother), L.C. Jones, Sr. (Father); Nita F. Pride (Sister); Sandra Fowler (Sister) and L.C. Jones, Jr. (Brother).
