

Bette J. Gordon, who reached the age of 99, passed away on October 20, 2023, at Cedarbrook Senior Care in Fort Myers, Florida. Born in Amanda, Ohio, to Fred and Mary Julian on December 28, 1923, she excelled academically, graduating as the Valedictorian from Amanda, Ohio High School in the Class of 1941. She furthered her education at Lancaster Business College in Lancaster, Ohio, and went on to hold secretarial positions at Lancaster Glass Company, Dupler Lumber Company, and J.C. Penney in Lancaster. Before moving to Ft. Myers in 2004, Bette was an active member of Olivedale Senior Citizen Center and St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster. She had a passion for sports, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and was always up for a game of cards. Bette was a devoted fan of The Ohio State University's basketball and football teams. While in Florida for nearly 20 years, she enjoyed bingo, Florida rummy, grouper sandwiches, sitting in the sun, and attending dinner theater performances with her daughter, Martha, and grandchild, Holly.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha (John) Hoffmann; grandchildren Holly (J.D.) Leland, all residing in Fort Myers, Florida; Jason (Kym) Hoffmann, Huntsville, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Baylei and Morganne Hoffmann, Huntsville. Additionally, she is survived by her stepson, Rev. Richard (Lolly) Gordon, Medina, Ohio; sister, Nancy (Tom) Ebbrecht, Westerville, Ohio; nephews, Dr. Scott (Sheila) Ebbrecht, Westerville and Dr. Todd (Kim) Ebbrecht, Pickerington, Ohio; brother-in-law, Paul Guisinger, Lancaster, Ohio. Bette was preceded in death by her former husband Herbert Dupler and stepdaughter LeeAnn Dupler, as well as her former husband, Clifton "Cappy" Gordon. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Julian, her brothers Charles (Coral) Julian, Glen (Betty) Julian, and her sisters Belva (Marvin) Miller, Helen (Joe) Dum, Virginia Guisinger, and Anna Belle Julian.
Funeral Services will be held at Halteman Fett & Dyer Funeral Home in Lancaster, Ohio, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Stukey Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests directing memorial contributions to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 125 N. Eastwood, Lancaster, Ohio.
