Betty Jean Tisdale Daubenmire, age 84, of Lancaster, OH passed away at Carriage Court on June 16, 2015. Betty was born July 19th, 1930 in Williamsport, Ohio, the oldest child of Dennis and Mabel Tisdale. She was very small as an infant and her parents made a bed for her out of a spare dresser drawer. Thankfully, Betty thrived and became a second parent to her five younger brothers.
Betty married William E. Daubenmire, Sr. on July 5, 1948 and together they had 5 children. Their oldest daughter, Karen Sue Daubenmire Wohrer preceded them in death on April 12, 1998. Betty was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Tara Nicole Wohrer of Lancaster, Ohio, and her brothers, Jack, Jerry, Dewey, and Larry, all of Columbus.
Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, William, and 4 children, son William E. (Barb) Daubenmire, Jr. of Middletown, Ohio, son Richard (Rick/Peanut) Daubenmire, son Michael Lee (Becky) Daubenmire and daughter Kristen Daubenmire Kennedy (Troy Aucreman), all of Lancaster Ohio.
When asked if her real name was “Elizabeth” Betty would always laugh and say, “no, I’m just Betty Jean. Nothing fancy!” And that’s just how she was in spite of her elegant appearance. Betty loved people and making them happy. Anyone from family to the most distant friend… if she knew you, she wanted to do something for you.
Betty was a long-time employee of the Lancaster Country Club and later operated a successful private hospitality business. She was also the Executive Director of the Anchor Hocking Guest House for many years. She worked tirelessly to support community projects and provide assistance to others.
Sadly, in recent years, Betty suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. She was cared for by her loving husband, William, and the staff of Carriage Court in Lancaster, Ohio until she went to sleep in the hands of her Lord with her husband and adoring family at her side.
