
He was born on April 13, 1933 in Baltimore, Ohio, to the late Dale and Clara Palmer. A graduate of Liberty-Union High School, Carl served in the U.S. Air Force in both Arizona and Colorado from 1951 to 1955. After returning to Ohio he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Holliday, on July 4th, 1955. Carl worked as a Broker-Realtor in Lancaster for over 30 years. He found great joy in helping each of his customers find a special home that suited their needs. Carl was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, serving on various committees and singing in the Senior Adult Choir for over 40 years. Together Carl and his wife, Barbara, were founding members of the Lancaster chapter of A Special Wish Foundation. He was a former member of the Lancaster Kiwanis Club. Carl was also an avid gardener, taking tremendous pride in his dahlias.
Carl is survived by his children, Nicolette (Duane) Miller of Westlake and Shawn (Ann) Palmer of Lancaster; grandchildren, Adrienne (Tom) Callahan of Cleveland, Joseph Palmer of Lancaster, Mallory Miller of Columbus, and Leah Palmer of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Holiday Bowling, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Holliday Palmer.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Rev. Dr. Brian Jones officiating. Internment with military honors will follow at Floral Hills Memory Garden. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home in Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to the First United Methodist Church, 163 E. Wheeling St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
