David L Allen

David L. Allen, born December 19, 1942, passed away Oct 1, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center. Dave was a 1962 graduate of Lancaster High School and retired from Midwest Fabricating in Amanda. He served in the United States Army. His passion in life was fishing and was known as "Fisherman Dave". Every chance he got, he could be found on the lake. He was also a talented woodworker. He was best known as a loving husband, father and Grandpa. He never met a stranger and his legacy will live on through those whose lives were touched by his giving heart.

He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Sandy Allen. He is also survived by his brother Jerry (Carole) Allen, sister Bonnie Allen Drake, sister Barbara Grigsby Watrous, brother in law Kevin Pence, sister and brother in law Sherry and Bill Stevens. He is survived by his children Jim (Anisa) Allen, Sean Strawser (Jade and Paige McMullen), Kim Shuttleworth (Kira and Zane Shuttleworth) and David Lee. His greatest role and pride was being Paw Paw to Kira and Zane and Grandpa to Hunter, Jade and Paige.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother Bertha Mae Griffin, brother in law Bill Drake, his beloved Aunt Viola (Bowa) Ruff, father in law Jack Pence and sister in law Jody Pence.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home
