

Ellen Lucille Deitz, 92, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at The Ridge of Lancaster. Ellen was born on April 27, 1933, in Circleville, Ohio to the late John and Lydia Valentine. She was a 1951 graduate of Lancaster High School and worked as a registered nurse for 35 years at the Fairfield Medical Center. Ellen gave back to her community in many ways throughout the years by volunteering for the Red Cross, working the election polls, and giving tours at the Georgian House. She enjoyed traveling, and had a love of birds, but most of all she loved her family.
Ellen is survived by her children, Pam Tetzlaff, of Latham, OH, Tim (Annie) Deitz, and David (Trudy) Deitz, both of Lancaster; sister, Lorraine Raymond, of Apopka, FL; grandchildren, John Horton, Chris Horton, Kenny Horton, Beth (Matt) White, Maggie (Matty) Wion, David Deitz, and Maddie Deitz; great-grandchildren, Harley McRoberts, Kylie Horton, and Cece Wion; sister-in-law, Mary Alwood; nieces, Cindy Rollins, and Julie (Jim) Adkins; nephew, Jeff Alwood, and cousin, Sue (Jim) Smeltzer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Deitz; her parents; brothers-in-law, Harold Raymond and Bill Alwood; and great-grandson, Seth Horton.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 1PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Vicky Coombs officiating. Burial is to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either, Hospice of Central Ohio, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lancaster, or the Fairfield County Humane Society in memory of Ellen.
The family would like to thank The Ridge of Lancaster and Hospice of Central Ohio for the excellent care they provided to Ellen.
