Martha Marie Newman

Martha “Marie” Newman, 98, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in her residence. She was born in Springfield, ILL., on December 26, 1914 a daughter of the late James H. and Lennie (Secoy) Banfield. She was a member of the Victory Hill Church of God and was employed by RBM for 25 years. Marie enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by; her 2 sons, Ronald (Vera) Newman and Tom (Jenny) Newman; 3 daughters, Marilyn (Ronald) Silcott, Loretta (Fred) Swyers and Janice (Robert) Reid; a sister-in-law, Juanita Thomas all of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren: Terry (Robin) Brown, Cary (Diane) Brown, Tim (Bernice) Brown, Paula (Mike) Tipple, Gary Frye, Bobby (Barb) Frye, Rod Newman, Tammy (Bill) Lytle, Corinna (Flynn) McIlwain, Davey (Vickie) Reid, Rick (Laurie) Swyers, Rob Reid, Brandon (Sarah) Reid, Heather (Jesse) Reid, Jason (Georgia) Newman and Heidi Newman, many great- grandchildren and great -great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and caregiver Shirley Sims..

She was preceded in death by; her parents, husband, John Newman in 1986; two daughters, Juanita Newman and Betty (Paul) Brown; 9 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Teague officiating. Burial will follow in Amanda Township Cemetery. Friends may call 10:30 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
