Peggy L. Nigh (Orihood) of Lancaster, OH passed away early Monday morning, January 25, 2021, at Carriage Court of Lancaster, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Peggy was born December 24, 1934 to Paul and Marjorie Orihood of New Holland, OH. Peggy was a devoted and loving mother and wife to her family. She was retired from the Lancaster National Bank (Society Bank). As a devout member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Peggy volunteered in the church office and had been a member of the Women's Guild. After her retirement, Peggy enjoyed spending her golden years traveling with her husband to national monuments and wonders of the world. She enjoyed her time with her family and was known to craft one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family that were each special and made just for them.Peggy is survived by her children: Randy (Becky) Knisley of Englewood, OH; Suzanne Miller of Amanda, OH; Diane Brancato of Owensboro, KY; Sherry (Mark) Jones of Lancaster, OH; and Linda (Randy) French of Richardson, TX. She is also survived by her brother David (Grace) Orihood of Washington CH, OH; grandchildren: Chris Knisley and Sam Knisley of Englewood, OH; Sonya Shapiro of Amanda, OH; TJ (Amber) Miller of Amanda, OH; Joshua Taylor of KY, Ethan (Caitlin) Jones of Dayton, OH and Kelsey Jones of Westerville, OH along with five great-grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” Nigh, married 11-14-1969, and her parents, Paul and Marjorie Orihood. The family would like to thank the Carriage Court Memory Care unit for their outstanding patience, kindness, understanding and care, in a very difficult time. A special thank you to the friends and neighbors who helped the family through Peggy's declining days at home, as we could not have done it without your support. And a final thank you to Becky Knisley, who gave up her family for 9 months to move in with Peggy and take care of her, before the transition to Carriage Court. Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, located at 436 N Broad St, Lancaster, OH from 10:00-11:00A.M., with a graveside service and burial following at Forest Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
