

Richard L. Garrett, age 85, left us March 26, 2016 to be with the love of his life Sylvia. They spent their "golden years" with travel and family. Richard served in the US Navy in the North Atlantic during the Korean War years, stationed in Iceland. He had a long engineering career in aircraft and power generation industries at North American Rockwell and Diamond Power Corporation. Richard was an avid motorcycle enduro racer and collected over 36 trophies and numerous awards. In his later years he hiked 450 miles of the Appalachian Trail. He will always be remembered for his life with Sylvia and his helpfulness and positive inspiration to others.
He is survived by his step-sons, Steven (Cinda) Reid, Robert (Janice) Reid; step-daughter, Amy (Don) Goldsberry; grandchildren: Nicholas (Creagh) Reid, Alisha (Kevin) Miller, Robert (Santana) Reid Jr., Brandon (Sarah) Reid, Heather (Jesse) Stickel, Ben (Amy) Goldsberry, Lindsay (Brian) Spackey and Dustin Goldsberry; 12 great grandchildren; brothers: Bob (Jo) Garrett and James (Phyllis) Garrett; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia M. Garrett; parents, Lawrence T. and Roberta O. Garrett.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Fuller officiating. Private burial will be at Forest Rose Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
