During his time at BC Hydro, Bryan served as Chairman on a joint trades apprenticeship program where he developed apprenticeship training manuals.

Upon retirement, Bryan continued to work by serving in various Director roles for many organizations; he received recognition from the Credit Union Institute of Canada for this work. He later joined the Fraternal Order of Railroaders, Grand Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Easter Star, and Santa Cruz Lodge (Cuba) where he served and raised funds for various charities. He was also a Worthy Patron and Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of South Carolina.

Bryan was a passionate musician and music lover who played multiple instruments including the trombone, guitar, and organ; he went on to be organist for the North Star Lodge for several years. He was also an amateur ham radio enthusiast, pool player, baseball coach, photographer, sport fisherman, and train aficionado.
