Del was born in Calgary AB March 26 1943, to Delos and Bertha Burk. Del’s younger years were in James River Bridge, Alberta, where he rode horse back to a 1 room school, later going on to graduate from Prairie Bible institute high school.
After graduating, Del worked in various jobs, before going back to school to take diesel mechanics at SAIT. He then joined the family in Upper Hat Creek, BC on the family ranch. When the ranch sold he stayed on as ranch manager before moving to the coast to be closer to his son Darcy. Del then started a backhoe business and ran it successfully until he was bought out by Alnor Services. He remained associated with them until his illness in June of 2020.
Del was happiest when camping with family and friends, but whether it was camping, team roping, golfing, or quading he would insist on making the breakfast.
Del is survived by his son Darcy, his daughters Julie and Karen (Frank) Grandson Louis and step daughter Annie-Rae. Sister Bev (Ron), brothers Jim (Geneva) Keith (Donna) and Phil (Cindy) along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Del will be missed by his family and many very good friends.
Donations can be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
