Erik was born February 19, 1956, and grew up in Coquitlam. He raised his family in Langley with his wife Linda, where he practiced as a chiropractor for almost 30 years.
Erik was an incredible athlete, excelling at any sport he put his mind to. Lacrosse was his passion as a young man, and he was a proud Vancouver Burrard from 1978 - 1982. He passed on his love of athletics to his children (although neither of them inherited the team sport bug). He mountain biked with his son Andrew, rode horses with daughter Jane, and spent winters skiing with the whole family at Whistler where they had a cabin.
His most recent athletic endeavor was learning to kite surf at age 61, which brought him and Linda to the Baja of Mexico. There, they built a home and spent their winters with an amazing community of fellow wind chasers.
After a chiropractor got him back in the lacrosse box following an injury in his early 20s, he decided to pursue chiropractic, attending Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College before moving back to the Lower Mainland to set up roots in Langley. He was a beloved chiro in Langley for 29 years before retiring in 2016, helping thousands of patients feel good and get back to what they loved doing.
He was married to the love of his life, Linda, for 48 years. Linda and Erik first met as kids on the shores of the Shuswap, at their families’ summer cabins. It was love at first sight (for him at least), and when Linda moved to the coast to attend Simon Fraser University and reached out to Erik, he saw his chance. Within a few short years, they were married, and together raised their two beautiful children, Andrew and Jane. Above all, Erik’s children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He was a wonderful and involved father, grandfather, and best friend to them.
Erik is survived by his mother Adri, wife Linda, son Andrew (Alyssa) and their children Lars and Freja, daughter Jane (Patrick) and their children Elliot and James, and sisters Marianne and Christina.
He was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, and will be missed immeasurably.
A celebration of life will be held at Newlands Golf and Country Club on March 17, 2025, at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to pancreatic cancer research through the BC Cancer Foundation, the Langley Hospice Society, or the North Shore Mountain Bike Association.
