Filippo was born in Santeramo in Colle, Italy on January 25, 1946. He is survived by his sons David (Cindy), Marc (Nicole), his cherished grandchildren Landon, Luca, Ella and Makenzie, brother Franco in Burnaby, Giuseppe in Switzerland, sisters Maria and Isa in Italy. He is predeceased by his wife Darlene and parents Gennaro Cifarelli and Maria D'Ambrosio.
Filippo fell in love with his wife Darlene who was visiting Switzerland from Canada. They married and later moved to Vancouver. Filippo resumed his career in mechanical engineering, they settled down roots, bought a home, and started a family. Unfortunately, Darlene passed and Filippo moved his young family back to Switzerland for family support until 1993 when they returned to Canada.
Throughout his life Filippo was a dedicated catholic who attended religious services regularly. Residing at a Catholic Seminary in his youth instilled a strong commitment to the church, stressed the value of prayer and belief in the will of God. He relied on this religious grounding to guide his life and give him strength.
In his retirement and sunset years Filippo dedicated his time to his passions, photography, gardening, painting, and managing his collections of stamps, owls, and coffee grinders. He was excited to see his family grow and celebrate the arrival of his grandchildren.
