Gordon Alfred Johnston

He is survived by his wife Darlene (Munro), sons William Robert (Bob) and Ron, grandchildren Audrey (Chad), Alana (Jesse), and Rodney, and great grandson Theodore. He is also survived by his sister Jean, brothers David (Debbie), and James, and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Jean (Goodfellow) Johnston, and nephews Trevor Johnston, and David Swisher.

Gordie was born in Tisdale, SK and moved with his family to Saanichton, B.C. at the age of three. He would spend his youth and school years there. In 1973 he moved his young family to Langley, B.C. where he continued his lifelong career driving his 18 wheeler. He loved driving and repeatedly stated "it's the only job where you get paid to sit on your ass and see the world."

From an early age anything that had wheels, loud noise and power would get Gordie's immediate attention. He had a passion for collector cars that never subsided and owned an assortment of them over the years.

He was a lover of animals, especially dogs and gave many of them a good home over his lifetime. There was also a special place in his heart for Jethro, his sidekick donkey.

Gordie had a good sense of humour and was in his element if he could capture a set of ears for his never ending trucking stories and/or jokes.

The family would like to thank Tabor Home for the loving care and compassion they extended to Gordie in the last 18 months of his life.

The family will mourn him privately and no services will be held.
