Iona was born and raised in Vegreville, Alberta, where she developed the resilience and warmth that would define her throughout her life. She later made her home in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, where she built a life centered around family, connection, and the simple joys she held dear.
She shared many meaningful years with her beloved husband, Carmen, including time spent snowbirding together, enjoying new places, warmer weather, and the companionship they built over a lifetime.
Family was everything to Iona. She was a proud and loving mother to her son Ricky (1958–2011) and her daughter Wanda, and a caring mother-in-law to Melanie. She adored her grandchildren Colby (Jamie), Brooke (Matt), Jason (Leanne), and Ashley (1990–2023), and found immense joy as a great-grandmother to Skylar, Brixley, and Hunter.
She is now reunited with her husband Carmen, her son Rick, and her granddaughter Ashley, a thought that brings comfort to those who loved her.
Iona will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through her family, who will carry her memory forward with deep love and gratitude.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
