Dad was born in Gilroy, Saskatchewan to Peter and Susanna Dyck. He spent his formative years in Yarrow, BC with his parents and 8 siblings. Dad married Clara in 1952 and lived in Vancouver until 1987, when they moved to Walnut Grove, Langley.
Dad worked in the trucking business until he retired at 62 years old.
After Mom’s passing in 2013, Dad continued to live in their Langley home until he was 95. Many people marveled at Dad as he didn’t seem to age much. He loved telling people that he was 98 years young and seeing their surprised faces. He was so mobile and ‘in the moment’ that most thought he was much younger.
He enjoyed his daily walks, family time at Aquadel Acres, Black Mountain and many motor home trips. In his retirement years, Dad took great pride in his well-tended vegetable garden.
But most of all, Dad was a wonderful grandfather (Papa) and great grandfather and was most happy when his sons and family were visiting.
Sons; Dennis (Mary-Ann), Terry (Deborah), Randy (Debbie), Andrew (Ilene).
Grandchildren: Crystal (Jeremy), Candice (Carlos), Gillian, Brandon (Jen), Jessica (Jeremy), Quinn, Jonathan (Meghan), Marissa (Dave), Kelsey (Kyne).
Great grandchildren: Brayden, Rylan, Brielle, Kingston, Rebecca, Emma, Adam, Katie and Selkie.
He will be greatly missed by us all.
Dad is now with his Lord and Saviour in Heaven and reunited with his beloved wife, Clara.
Dad, please say ‘hi’ to Mom from all of us.
A Celebration of Life for Dad will be held at Noon on Saturday January 24th at Hendersons Langley Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Hwy, Langley, BC
