Mario was born in 1931 in Cino, Italy, the son of Enrico De Romeri and Erminia Caligari.
In his earlier years, he worked as a Dredge Master for the Yukon Consolidated Gold Company in the Klondike region of Yukon. Both he and Wilma shared many memories from living in the north during those years. He later worked as a Skilled Moulder with Esco Limited in Port Coquitlam and retired in 1996.
Mario loved being around his family, friends, enjoyed the many “Friday night” dinners, and the vacations and trips with family and friends throughout the years. He had a love for the mountains, and enjoyed being outdoors and in the garden, where one could often hear him whistling a tune.
He will be remembered for having a presence, his generosity, smiling eyes, and humour.
Remaining to cherish Mario’s memory is his wife of 66 years, Wilma, his children Christina (Brent), Sonia (Kevin), Enrico (Leanne), his grandchildren, Tiana, Austin (Daniela), Gabriela (Scott her partner), and great-grandson, Ozzie.
There will be a private funeral, followed by a celebration of life later in the year.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Doug & Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence for their kindness, care and comfort while there.
He will be missed.
