Mary Ann passed away at 75 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John. She will be deeply missed by: her children Graham (Emily), Christopher (Rebecca), Janey, and Katy; her grandchildren Owen, Oliver, Oscar (her "Triple O's") and Josh; her siblings Nancy Lee (Dan), Betty Lou (Bruce), and David; her extended family and countless friends. Her devotion, kindness, and love leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.
After graduating from York House in 1967, Mary Ann trained as a RN at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She spent over 40 years nursing in a variety of roles in communities across BC, touching the lives of countless patients, colleagues, and friends with her warmth and care.
Mary Ann loved to travel (especially to Mexico, Hawaii, and Europe), take long walks, and camp. She treasured time at Savary Island and Qualicum, two of her favourite places to relax with family. She enjoyed reading, following the news, cheering on the frustrating Canucks, and she never missed an episode of Jeopardy! A master of the New York Times crossword, she took pride in her sharp mind and love of daily puzzles. She was also a "classic skier" who filled family winters with joy.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff, for their care and compassion, at the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic, the Langley Hospital, and the Langley Hospice Residence. Donations, in Mary Ann's name, may be made to the Langley Hospice.
As per MA's wishes, there will not be a service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
