Mary was born to Scottish parents on Dorrington Farm, Essex, England.
She was very proud of her Scottish heritage, and believed that her daily 4 o’clock scotch helped to keep her healthy!
Mary married William Hudson at Waltham Abbey in 1957.
Shortly afterward the couple emigrated to Toronto , Ontario, and had two children, Susan and Robert. They were active members of the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club. In 1967, Mary and Bill moved to Fort Langley, British Columbia. They built a house and Mary established a small farm with gardens and animals including steers, chickens, turkeys, and pets. In addition to the farm, Mary worked for the Canadian Census and drove a small bus for the handicapped in Langley. She also spent some years working at the Langley Library.
Mary belonged to the Langley Spinners and Weavers Guild, and she went bowling Thursday afternoons with women who remained friends for years. She was a docent with the Langley Centennial Musem.
Mary was a member of the congregation of St. George’s church in Fort Langley and until recently, was active in the A.C.W.
Mary was a very independent woman and took pride in making her own decisions including making a move into Fort Langley village and then to Langley Gardens in 2018.
The family would like to thank the staff of Langley Gardens for their care of Mary in her final months.
She is survived by her children Robert and Susan (Andrew Clayden), and grandchildren, Maisie and Quinn (Sophie). Also survived by two siblings, Bob and Helen.
A celebration of life will be planned in future weeks.
