There she enjoyed many adventures working on the farm, horseback riding and helping her mom with the garden.
Once married and after a few years living in Winnipeg, they packed up and moved to the Lower Mainland of BC, where she remained the rest of her life.
While raising her 4 children, she enjoyed a very successful career in real estate having earned many rewards for outstanding performance in sales.
Her favourite part of the job was helping young families find their first home.
After retirement, Mary and her husband Wes embarked on many adventures including a 32,000 km road trip with their pickup and 5th wheel trailer.
They travelled across Canada and as far away as Florida where they watched many launches of the space shuttle. From there they headed to Arizona and stayed in Quartzite where they enjoyed retirement living in the desert. Next they headed North up the coast and all the way into the Northwest Territories, staying in Inuvik. Gold panning and sightseeing along the way.
Seeking new adventures, they flew to Denmark where they stayed with Wes's family for a time before heading out backpacking throughout Europe.
Visiting Denmark, Germany, France and England where they stayed in hostels. Meeting with relatives along the way.
Once back home to Port Moody, their love of duplicate bridge led them to the Dogwood Duplicate Bridge Club where they facilitated the games there for many years.
They were proud to represent the City of Coquitlam in the BC Senior Games for Duplicate Bridge and won a Gold Medal in the first year and a Silver Medal the second year.
During this time, they also enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, gold panning and even joined a seniors Bowling League. A few cruises to Alaska and a cruise to the Caribbean.
Their lives were full of adventures.
Still active in her 80s, Mary often accompanied her family to Sointula, a fishing village at the North end of Vancouver Island.
There she enjoyed beachcombing for treasures and would always come back to the house with a bag full of beach glass, interesting rocks and scrap metal for recycling.
Left to cherish her memories are her 4 children; Ruth (John), Carol (Mel), Pam (Rob) and David (Winnie).
Mary had 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Langley Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of our mother.
There will be no service by mom's request.
