I remember going to Uncle Ray and Auntie Anne's and playing in the back 40 on Bridge Street with Arnie and Chris and their chihauhau. Chris would show me his plastic human skeleton and explain it all to me in great detail, being the scientific genius he was. I also remember the Dave Clark Five music we listened to in the basement and the "temporary" sleepovers at Uncle Clary and Auntie Ellen's with Chris and Arnie while my parents and Uncle Ray and Auntie Anne visited and played cards with Uncle Clary and Auntie Ellen while listening to their country music. By the time Chris,Arnie, Roger and I would get to sleep it was time to be packed up to go home.I will miss Uncle Ray, who had a kind and gentle spirit much like my father and believe he is with his sons and my dad and watching over us all.

My first memories of Uncle Ray and Auntie Anne go back to their Bridge Street home in Richmond.  I won’t give away my age, but it’s hard to believe it was 50 years ago that I was  catching frogs in the ditches with Arnie and Chris, listening to Dave Clarke Five and Beach Boys 45’s on Uncle Ray’s hand crank phonograph and watching a pig being slaughtered in the shed at the back.  In the basement Uncle Ray always had TV’s, radios and other electronics in various states of repair.  I was fascinated watching him test the tubes out of many of his projects.  For my younger cousins, tubes were the main components in the forerunners of your (tiny by yesteryear standards) modern electronic gadgets.  I’m sure if they had ipods, blackberries and iphones in Uncle Ray’s time, he would have had them apart on his workbench as well to see how they worked.  I remember him as a quiet person but always willing to lend a hand, which was typical of his family and no doubt the reason he was so well liked.  Who knows, maybe in another 50 years, I will once again see him at his tube tester getting all those radios and tv’s working again.  Roger

I have wonderful memories of times spent with Uncle Ray and Auntie Anne...  I remember going to the cabin at Green Lake when I was little and following Uncle Ray all over the place...   I remember every "tour of the garden" at both houses on Bridge St in Richmond and the one in Surrey.  He was so proud of his beautiful yards...  Uncle Ray was always soft spoken, shy and loving.  I have always been so proud to say that they are not only my Uncle and Aunt but also my God-Parents.  I will miss Uncle Ray but I know in my heart that he is with his boys, his brothers and other family and friends who love him, including my Dad.

We will all miss Uncle Ray and his garden tours. Now he is busy with the "biggest and most beautiful garden". God will be instructing uncle where to pull the weeds etc. Rest now!
