With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosemarie Elizabeth Reed on May 17, 2025, at Langley Hospice. She left this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of warmth, kindness, and devotion.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, to Elizabeth Marie Nette (Shuster) and Ernst Martin Nette, Rosemarie grew up alongside her brothers Terry (& Connie), Larry, and her predeceased brother Marty (& Marlyn). She was a devoted wife to Walter Reed for over 57 years and a loving mother to her three sons, Chris, Greg, and Doug. She welcomed her daughters-in-law, Dana and Jen, into her family with open arms and found immense joy in being a grandmother to Alex, Keaghan, Hudson, Roman, and Calista.
Rosemarie pursued higher education at the University of Alberta, where she built a career as a pharmacist, dedicating herself to the well-being of others. Her passion for healthcare and her compassion for those in need were evident in the care she provided and the lives she touched.
Beyond her professional career, Rosemarie was deeply committed to her community. She was a resolute volunteer with the Kinettes Club in Red Deer, Alberta, where she fostered meaningful connections and supported charitable efforts. She also contributed her time to the Langley Rivermen hockey team, cheering on young athletes and helping to strengthen the local hockey community.
Her involvement as a prominent member of Beta Sigma Phi—a sorority that values lifelong learning, friendship, and service—was a testament to her dedication to fostering meaningful relationships and giving back to others. Rosemarie also devoted over 2,000 hours of volunteer service to the Langley RCMP Community Police Office, working tirelessly to support local safety initiatives and strengthen community ties. Her unwavering dedication and kindness left a lasting impact on those she served.
Her kindness extended beyond formal volunteer work, as she continued assisting elderly friends in her community, helping them with shopping, attending appointments, and providing companionship. Her selflessness and unwavering dedication to others left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A true sports enthusiast, Rosemarie embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying activities such as curling, tennis, golf, skiing, skating, and fishing. She was a proud supporter cheering on her sons in hockey, lacrosse, and baseball. She carried that same loyalty supporting the Edmonton Oilers.
Rosemarie also had a deep love for clogging, a passion that took her around the Lower Mainland and into Washington State alongside cherished friends for competitions and other events. Whether performing on stage or practicing tirelessly, she embodied the rhythm, camaraderie, and excitement that accompanied every dance step. Her enthusiasm and dedication made her a vibrant presence in the clogging community, leaving behind lasting memories and friendships.
Known for her quick wit and infectious humour, Rosemarie always had a clever remark ready to brighten any room. She had a knack for making people laugh, whether through sharp one-liners, playful banter, or her perfectly timed observations. Her ability to find joy in the little things—and to share that joy with others—was one of her most treasured qualities.
Rosemarie had a creative and resourceful spirit, finding joy in playing the piano, sewing, and cooking—creating beautiful music, handmade treasures, and delicious meals for those she loved.
Above all, she cherished camping trips, where she could immerse herself in the tranquillity of nature and create wonderful memories under the stars. Fondly known as the "queen of Tupperware" and a master of recycling, she instilled in her family the importance of sustainability, always finding ways to reuse, repurpose, and care for the environment.
A celebration of Rosemarie's life will be held at 2:00 pm on June 14, 2025, at the Riverwynde Clubhouse in Langley. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Langley Hospice Society in her honour.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by love.
