Shirley is survived by her sons, Adam (Kaylee), and Greg (Brittany), Grandsons, Emmett and Clarke, and sister, Susan (Ron). She is predeceased by her loving husband, Marty, parents Jim and Alma (nee Chevalier) Jacobi, and brother Gordon Jacobi.
Shirley was born to Jim and Alma Jacobi, on Feb 25, 1953. The youngest daughter of this hardworking family, Shirley learned work ethic early on, being employed to help with her father's duck hunts which helped feed the family. Shirley gained a love for the family’s hunting dogs and this began her lifelong love of animals and “man’s best friend”. Shirley, throughout her life was rarely without a dog.
Shirley and Marty raised their sons in a loving, supportive home and were dedicated hockey parents, while she developed her passion for cake design through her custom cake business. Shirley worked various retail jobs and was a dependable, valued employee. She was also an outspoken member of MADD for a number of years.
In 2013, she celebrated 40 years of a strong, loving marriage before husband Marty suddenly passed away a few months later in 2013. This chapter was unforeseen and difficult, but the addition of her grandsons, Clarke and Emmett, in 2015 and 2019 was consoling and a highlight for her. The boys enjoyed dream birthday cakes and were spoiled by Grandma B’s baking and generosity. She also found solace in her close friendships and was able to deepen those relationships before her passing.
The world will be a less vibrant place with Shirley gone. She had a love for hosting dinner parties, a passion for cake decorating and took on many other creative endeavors. She enjoyed travel and the company of good friends. Gone too soon, Shirley will leave us with the importance of quality time spent with friends and family and being true to oneself as well as to others.
When we celebrate and share a slice of cake, we will always think of you, Grandma B.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
