Allyn peacefully passed away at home with his wife, Carol by his side. Allyn had 97 years of happiness, good health and many wonderful friends. But most of all he loved the family he left behind, his daughter Alanna Faith, his second cousins, Teri and Manu Roache and Darla and Doug Conley. I would also like to say he felt blessed to have two long time friends, Wendi Valentine and Bob Chaphalkar.
Allyn came to Michigan from Eden Ohio at the age of nineteen to live with his Grandparents while he worked on an Associates Degree in Accounting at Lansing Business College. He loved working and was still doing accounting work at the age of 94. After 40 years he retired from Impco of Lansing and he decided to take an accounting position for a small remodeling shop, Kitchens by Richards, working there until they moved to a new location in the Detroit area. He finished his career working for Cummings Engineering. Allyn always wanted to be busy doing things and in his spare time he helped many complete and file their income taxes. When it wasn't tax time he loved helping others plan for retirement by supplying information for them to invest wisely in the stock market. Allyn had two other passions, he loved driving and he had a large collection of maps the he frequently opened and would study for hours. He said the love of maps developed at a very early age when he and his Mother would spend hours together looking at the maps and taking imaginary trips.
No services are planned. Those who knew Allyn know that he would rather give then receive. So that is why we are honoring his wish for a private burial of his ashes at Deepdale Cemetery next to his first wife of 60 years, Lela and family.
I would like everyone to know that I am so grateful for all of the wonderful care that was provided by Elara Hospice nurses and aides,
