Amy lived her life with a joyful spirit and a zest for life like no other. Her love for parties and dancing brought smiles to countless faces, and her boundless energy and enthusiasm were truly contagious. Being in Amy’s presence was a gift, as she shared joy freely and wholeheartedly with everyone she met.
Amy’s competitive spirit was strong and always entertaining. She loved competing in swimming through the Special Olympics or even in her own childhood backyard pool, especially if she could find someone willing to lose. Amy was also a master of Uno and Skip-Bo, where losing was simply not an option. Her competitive streak brought endless laughter and unforgettable moments at family gatherings.
Although Amy loved everyone she encountered, she had a deep appreciation for her “favorite big brother,” and cherished her best friends, “Chatty” and Julie. She also held a special place in her heart for her friends at Chosen Vision, where she lived for 22 years. The friendships she formed there were a meaningful and joyful part of her journey and brought her great happiness.
Amy had a remarkable memory and an eye for detail that delighted her family. No one could remember where she ate a meal years later quite like Amy. Her love for Chicken Cordon Bleu, first enjoyed at her sister’s wedding in the 1980s, remained her favorite meal of all time, a story she never let her family forget and one that always brought laughter and fond memories.
Amy was also the inspiration behind The Amy Foundation, which at one time sponsored the most popular writing contest in the country. Through the writing awards, many people were drawn closer to God. Her faith, kindness, and ability to touch hearts were truly extraordinary, and the reason why many who knew her considered Amy one of the most Christlike people in their lives.
With faith in God’s loving care, Amy is now at peace, welcomed into eternal life and surrounded by everlasting love. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her kindness, and the light she so generously shared with others. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Amy is survived by her loving mother, Phyllis Russell; her sisters, Kathy (Don) Brooks, Vicki (Bill) DeVault, and Lori (Tom) Goble; and her brother, Jim (Michelle) Russell. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews who adored her, along with numerous other family members and friends who will forever cherish her beautiful spirit.
