Amy Dee Underhill, age 67, of Lansing, Michigan passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Amy was born August 1, 1953 in Mason, MI to Betty (Lippert) Ketchum.
Amy is preceded in death by her mother and her brother, William Underhill II.
Amy, whose name means beloved, was exactly that to others. As an adjective, beloved means dearly loved. As a noun, it means a much loved person. Her mother blessed her with such a powerful name and Amy lived up to the meaning of her name everyday. She was loved by so many people and touched so many people's lives.
Amy was a kind and loving soul who had a heart of gold. One of her favorite things to do was give to others. You could say that was her love language. If Amy could give to others, her heart was full. She would go without in order to make sure you were taken care of.
Amy went through a difficult illness where it took her leg. That didn't stop Amy from living life and doing the things she loved to do. She was determined to lead a normal life and Amy did just that. Nothing could stop Amy from projecting her love onto others.
Amy was very loved at her home at East Glen. If her apartment complex was having any kind of luncheon or activity, she would be there. Amy was involved in her community. She loved her home and her neighbors. Upon her passing, the family understood just how much Amy was loved by her neighbors. They have received countless letters stating of how loved she was and will be missed.
Blessings, what a name for Amy's favorite cat. Blessings was just that, a companion and her best friend. She loved her cat so much. She enjoyed being home because that is where you could find Amy and Blessing cuddling up to each other. That was her happy place.
Not only did Amy have such compassion and love for her fellow human beings, but she blessed many of them with her hats, mittens, scarves, quilts, and hand made jewelry. If you needed something in particular, Amy would figure out a way to make it or get it for you. She was very artistic. Amy was quite the knitter, crocheter and quilter. She had a beautiful talent of making these priceless gifts for her family and friends. That was part of her giving heart and one of her most favorite things to do. If Amy wasn't crafting for her friends and family, you could find her baking goodies and sharing those with whomever she could.
Amy was a very talented and gifted person, but that was not number one in her life. The Lord was number one. She had such a strong faith and it shined through her. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.
Amy was well loved and left to cherish her memory besides many, many friends are her dear siblings; Faith Keresztes, Althea Patterson, Eric F. (Sandy) Peasley, and Phillip P. (Nancy) Patterson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Amy would like to give a special thank you to Stacy Peasley and Sandy Peasley for all of your love, help and support.
Due to COVID 19 a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
