

Andrea Stephanie “Ande” Vasquez (née Ling), age 72, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on February 21, 1953, in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California. Andrea lived a life defined by compassion, service, and unwavering faith.
Andrea was preceded in death by Dorthy Ling and Clerence Ling (Parents) and her beloved Grandmother Minnie Reigel.Family was the cornerstone of Andrea’s life. Andrea was a devoted mother to her twin sons. She was survived by, Scott Vasquez (Taylor Vasquez) and Charles Vasquez (Alicia Vasquez.) She poured her heart into raising them with strength and love. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: CJ, Ahnalicia, Ava, Sophia, Sephora, Christian, and Vivian. She held close bonds with her daughters-in-law Taylor and Alicia; her niece Shari; and her brother Steven. She grew up with strong family values that would shape her lifelong commitment to helping others.
After graduating from Everett High School in 1971 in Lansing, MI. She pursued her passion for education at Michigan State University, earning her masters degree in teaching. Upon graduating from MSU she traveled to central America to teach at the American school for 3 years. After returning to Michigan she joined the Lansing school district that would launch a remarkable 36-year career with Lansing Public Schools.
As a dedicated educator, Andrea touched countless lives. Her classroom was more than just a place of learning—it was a sanctuary of opportunity and grace. She believed deeply in the potential of every student and worked tirelessly to ensure they felt seen, supported, and empowered. Her influence extended far beyond academics; she instilled values of kindness and perseverance that many carried with them long after leaving her classroom.
Andrea’s devotion to service did not end at the school doors. A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of Judson Memorial Baptist Church where she found both spiritual nourishment and opportunities to give back. She volunteered regularly at the church’s Love Clothing Center, offering time and care to those in need. Her generosity knew no bounds—whether through her involvement in Girl Scouts or her love for sewing gifts for others, Andrea gave freely of herself without expectation. In Andrea's spare time she was a frequent patron of the Wharton Center where she would watch broadways musicals.
Andrea’s selflessness was not just a trait—it was a way of life. She made it her mission to ensure those around her never felt alone or lacking. Whether guiding young minds as a teacher or offering comfort through acts of kindness in her community and church, Andrea embodied grace in action.
Andrea Stephanie Vasquez leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, faith, and service—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to those who carry it forward.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Judson Baptist Church, 531 Glendale Ave., Lansing, MI 48910. Please plan to join us for a luncheon immediately following Andrea's service.
