Born July 28, 1933 in Havana, Cuba, Armando was the son of Saturno and Almerinda (Gomez) Herrera. He retired in 1980 as Master Sergeant from the United States Army. His twenty-two years in the military included service in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. He taught classes at West Point and St. Mary?s University in Texas. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Margaret A. Herrera; children, Desiree (Terry Allen) Herrera, Armando Herrera, Manon (James) Goulding, Stephen (Wanda Hastings) Alfes; grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Natalie and Jordan; sister, Carmen (Sam) Taylor; brother, Saturno (Patricia) Herrera; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Saturno and Almerinda Herrera and sister, Almerinda Almeda. Visitation will be 2-4,6-8pm Tuesday, November 21, 2006 with a 7:00pm Rosary at the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, with Father John P. Klein officiating. Interment will be St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society in memory of Armando.
