Age 74, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandpa passed away at home December 25, 2014 from motor neuron disease. Born December 29, 1939 in Lansing, MI. Bill was a historian on old cars. He helped many guys build their street rods, or sold them parts and coached them on how to fix their motors. There wasn't a motor he couldn't fix. He mentored and passed it on to the next generation. He could build anything. He did street rod swap meets for over 40 years. He was also interested in NASCAR. Bill was known for his sense of humor and sharing stories.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Janet (Donn) Cardwell; his children: Brian Cardwell, Brent Cardwell, and Stacy Cardwell; grandchildren: Suzi Godfrey, Kaitlin Cardwell, and Kristi Cardwell; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Connor, Kaylee, and Jayden; sister, Mary Ann Cardwell; brother, LeRoy (Jeane Ann) Cardwell; Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Oscar & Bobbie Rebecca (Lowrance) Cardwell; daughter-in-law, Kelli Cardwell in 2010, and grandson, Chad Cardwell in 2011.
Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 30th, with services 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 31, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, with Pastor Rod Kalajainen officiating.
