Brian was born in Lansing on January 5, 1942, to parents Paul and Virginia (North) Marek.
He shared 62 years of marriage with Nancy (Donley) Marek. They were introduced by mutual friends in 1962 and after a brief courtship, they were married the following year. They spent the majority of their lives together in Holt, MI. They also enjoyed time together at their cottage at Houghton Lake.
Brian was a lifelong Spartan fan, graduating from MSU with a Bachelor’s Degree. He dedicated his career to the State of Michigan Department of Transportation until he retired in 1997.
Brian’s favorite activities included spending time outdoors, golfing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed reading an endless number of hunting magazines, books and maps. He enjoyed spending quality time with his lifelong friends. He also had a deep love for dogs and he would have given a home to every Beagle and Brittany Spaniel, if he could!
Brian is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Renèe Marek and Carolyn (Andrew) Taormina; his granddaughter, Isabel (Timothy) Blamer; and great-grandchildren, Ruth and Levi. Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Virginia (North) Marek; and his brother, Jerome Marek.
