
Catherine Simon Lewis, 96, of Lansing, MI, was called to her eternal rest on March 20, 2015. She was born May 6, 1918 in Saginaw, MI to Peter and Florence Simon. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Lewis; sisters, Eleanor Cohoon and Edna Norris; and brother, Elmer (Pete) Simon. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Lewis, Eaton Rapids; son, James W. Lewis and Nancy Lewis, Rochester Hills; grandson, Jamie H. Lewis, Guthrie Center, IA; brother, Peter Simon and Carol Simon, Traverse City; sister, Joan Brandt and Dan Brandt, Franklin, WI, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Simon, Frankenmuth; her gentleman friend, John Blyth, East Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was an elegant, charming and witty woman who gave much to her family and community. As the matriarch of the Simon family she was fondly known as “The Queen.” Catherine was a founding member of the Sparrow Hospital Service Auxiliary, a member of the American Red Cross Clara Barton Society, and a member of the East Lansing Child Study Club, the Kresge Art Museum, and the MSU University Club.
Following a visitation hour, a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 12:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 122 S. Pennsylvania, Lansing where Catherine was a founding member.
