Cecelia S. Gensterblum

Cecelia Susanna Gensterblum, age 89, of Lansing, Michigan went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Born in Westphalia Township in Clinton County, Michigan, she was the daughter of Herman and Nina (Early) Pohl. Cecelia worked for the State of Michigan Treasury for over twenty-two years. She filled her retirement years with family, volunteering, traveling and pursuing her varied hobbies. She was a volunteer for much of her life at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. It was here where Cecelia started making rosaries for the church with her sisters and daughter-in-law.

Surviving Cecelia are all seven of her children: Michael, Joseph, Timothy (Julayne), Cindy (Scott) Holzwart, Lisa, Steven (Erin), and William, as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Cecelia is also survived by her siblings: Jeanne Jones, Marie Pohl, Loretta Esch, and Donald (Kit) Pohl. Cecelia is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Gensterblum, her brothers: Bernard, Joseph and Richard, and her sisters: Helen and Adeline.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the 4:00 PM with a rosary service at 3:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 3815 Cedar St., Lansing with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made in Cecelia’s name to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
