

Clare Edward Moritz, age 75, died on September 30, 2020. He was born October 14, 1944 in St. Johns, MI, the son of Louis and Mary Moritz. Clare grew up on his parents’ farm north of Fowler, MI. He graduated from Fowler High School in 1962 and from Michigan State University in 1966. Clare married Ann Mohnke on June 10, 1967. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of the Michigan Science Teachers Association, Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL), and the Waverly Education Association. He was a life member of the MSU Alumni Association. He taught in the evenings at Lansing Community College for several years. He was a teacher for 40 years, 38 of those at Waverly Community Schools. He retired from teaching there in 2006. After his retirement, he enjoyed wood carving.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his baby sister, Nancy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Moritz. He is also survived by his son, Randall Moritz, of Grand Ledge; daughter, Janet Moritz, of Grand Ledge, and her special friend, Bill Pokojski, of Holt; brother; David (Sue) Moritz, of Elsie; and 2 sisters, Kathy (Dave) Mensing, of Tucson, AZ, and Ann (Alan) Becker, of Potterville.
The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7000 West Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 with Pastor Robert Allmann officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Delta Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to the Capital Area Humane Society.
