

CLAYTON BUDD McCOY, 89, of Delta Township, died Thursday, March 31, 2011. Clayton was born December 12, 1921 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Charles Henry McCoy & Bessie (Cummings) McCoy, 7th of 11 children: Hazel, Charles, Blanche, Edna, Cora, George, Beatrice (living), Idola, Velma & Raymond (living) (Suzanne). Clayton married October 1946, Christine Elinor McKone (d. 1998). 4 children survive him: Josephine Simonetti, Patricia (John) Morton, Michael (Bonnie) McCoy, & Sheila McCoy (Larry). 5 children are deceased: Elinor, Peter, John, Thomas & Christopher Brown. 23 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews survive him.
Clayton was a World War II Army Veteran, Sergeant, with 2 Purple Hearts & 6 Bronze Stars, who served in the 32nd Red Arrow Division in the trenches of New Guinea for 536 days, blown up twice, survived malaria, and dengue fever. His mother, Bessie, said he walked in his father, Charles? footsteps in the Philippines also. Clayton was the retired Chief Electrical Inspector, State of MI, appointed by Gov. George Romney, & Ass?t. Chief Electrical Inspector, Pontiac, MI, President of the IAEI, NECA, President of American Legion-Cook-Nelson Post, Pontiac, lifetime member of the Elks #810, & VFW. Clayton was the founder of the Electrical Inspectors Training School and the Arson School with the Michigan State Police. Clayton was a generous man who always gave to those less fortunate. He was a champion pool player, loved golf, hunting, fine Scotch & the fine arts.
